Testimonials

  • Anonymous Tip Service Launched

Project Stand Up, launched in South Dakota in May 2017, is a collaborative initiative aimed at combating illegal drug use through anonymous citizen tips. The program was established through a partnership between the South Dakota Attorney General's Office, Sanford Health, the South Dakota Sheriff's Association, the South Dakota Police Chiefs' Association, and the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

Sanford Health's involvement underscores the healthcare sector's commitment to community safety and public health initiatives. Their partnership in Project Stand Up highlights the importance of cross-sector collaboration in addressing drug-related issues and enhancing school safety through anonymous tip reporting.

  • Project Stand Up for School Safety

Building on its success, the program expanded to address school safety concerns. By texting the word “safe” to 82257, individuals can report potential school threats anonymously. The system prompts users with eight questions, and the responses are immediately forwarded to designated school officials, School Resource Officers, and local law enforcement.

  • Endorsements from Educational Leaders

Wade Pogany, Executive Director of the Associated School Boards of South Dakota (ASBSD), emphasized the program's value: “The Project StandUp for School Safety program will offer school districts another component to enhance safety in their school buildings.” asbsd.org

  • Community Engagement and Accessibility

No Cost Implementation: The program is offered at no cost to participating school districts, making it an accessible tool for enhancing safety without financial barriers. dsdk12.net

Ease of Use: The simplicity of initiating a report—sending a keyword via text—lowers the threshold for community members to share critical information, thereby fostering a proactive approach to public safety.

  • Testimonials and Public Reception

Law Enforcement and Educational Institutions: Both sectors have recognized the program's utility in preemptively addressing threats and fostering a safer environment for students and the broader community.
